Summer Multi-tasking

Monday, 01 August 2011 - Fiona Ritchie

One of the reasons I set up The Ochil Soap Company was to be able to balance being Mum to my 2 scrumptious children with working and building an enterprise that we can be proud of.....Summer holiday time is the biggest test of this lofty aim! I have my unfailingly busy team in the Glasgow branch, the Turnberry Signature gift assemblers, who featured in all their glory in The Sunday Post a few weeks ago!! ... a Dad who delivers boxes of soap with never ending enthusiasm, my lovely cousin Laura who is our sparkly new PR lady.
It is lovely to have such a great back up,...even Scott and Lorna have been known to slice soap and assemble soap kebabs....(they have to work for their ice lollies!!)
I am having a busy soap week next week then taking my first official annual leave since I started the business...A bit of battery recharging, culture and grown up time in beautiful Florence....obviously there will be ongoing research into Olive Oil (ahem) and the therapeutic use of fermented grapes (I am sure there must be skin care benefits!)
I am also delighted to welcome lots of new customers to the Ochil Soap family. You would be surprised where you can buy my soap and goodies now....keep an eye out when you are on your Scottish summer adventures!

A flurry of Weddings

I am delighted to be back at the Weddng Fair in Glasgow's SECC this weekend...it is lovely to meet so many excited Brides, list clutching Mothers, diplomatic Mothers of the Groom and bored Grooms-to-be....! It is such an exciting event and, quite rightly, every Bride wants to stamp their own personality on their celebrations, and to give their friends a lovely treat to take home and enjoy after the big day....Come and say hello to me at stand 499 (beside the Frasers Theatre) and let me make you something unique and special for your Favours!

A mountain of shoes

Tuesday, 18 October 2011 - Fiona Ritchie
There is a mountain of shoes in my hall. It can mean only one thing....half term already! The house is filled with children, dressing up, harassing the hamster, rummaging in the back of the cupboard for a snack that is "non-healthy". My initial impulse is to spell the words "HELP ME", in shoes, on the front lawn.....

Summer Multi-tasking

Summer is floating by...the children are rarely in bed before dark, ice lollies are being consumed by the box-full and the dining room table is, yet again, towering with bars of soap! Our Scottish summer holidays are about grabbing every opportunity to have an adventure, moments of sunshine, a camping trip with a tent full of children, an afternoon pint by the river, a romp in the woods with the puppy, yummy evenings with friends filled with laughter and music....
